Recently I asked Kaminsky about what she was reading. Her reply:
I recently read John Banville’s novel, Eclipse. It is a powerful exploration of the hold the past has on us. I was fascinated by his use of the beckoning of ghosts as a tool for self-reflection in the main character. This is something I explored thematically in The Waiting Room – the importance of bearing witness to the dead as a way of connecting us with our individual heritage. His prose is engaging and poetic.Visit Leah Kaminsky's website.
