I recently discovered Judith Merkel Riley who wrote humorous, historical, feminist novels with a supernatural touch. I am rivetedVisit Sarah Strohmeyer's website.by the tale of Margaret of Ashbury in A Vision of Light who is wed against her will at age 14 in the 13th century to a vile, evil merchant. She looks for someone to write her biography - since, of course, she is illiterate - and finds a barely tolerant priest. There are three books in the series and they are impossible to put down. The Audible version is awesome, too. I think they would work for anyone 13+.
